Access Fund holds a recreation easement for Monster Rock--a limestone crag 30 minutes west of Austin, TX. In 2019, Monster Rock was donated toTexas Climbers Coalition (TCC) to manage future public climbing access.

History
Monster Rock was purchased in 1998 by local climber John Hogge who developed the property into a public climbing park. Over the years, management of the property became increasingly difficult and John decided to transfer the property. Having seen the recent success of TCC’s acquisition of Medicine Wall in San Antonio, John approached TCC to see if they would be interested in acquiring the property. TCC agreed to hold the property and Access Fund agreed to hold a recreation easement to permanently protect the property for climbing.

Location and Beta
Monster Rock is located at 2208 Pace Bend Rd S, Spicewood, TX 78669. Limited parking is provided in the gravel driveway. There are approximately 50 established routes at Monster Rock. “Austin Climbing” 3rd edition by John Hogge is the best guidebook resource for Monster Rock and many surrounding areas.
