This isn’t the Wild West. When climbers fail to respect rules, regulations, and closures, it reflects negatively on all climbers and jeopardizes access.
Climbing access is closely tied to positive relationships with land managers. All climbing areas in the US are on either public or private land, and land managers must balance recreation access and environmental interests. The rules and regulations that land managers set forth are their means of achieving this balance. If climbers don't respect those rules, access can be revoked in order to protect the environment or other users' experience.
