The base of cliffs and boulders
receive significant impact from regular use. Minimize
impacts to soil and vegetation by keeping your gear organized and placed
on durable surfaces near the base of the rock.
Loud music and excessive noise can cause social impacts, ruining other climbers' experience and bothering land managers. Keep a low profile.
Climbing can disrupt cliff-nesting raptors. Closures are in place to protect these these birds during nesting season. Respect the closure and climb somewhere else.
Use tick marks sparingly and remember to brush them off before you
leave. Too many ticks can cause confusion on a route, botch on-sight
attempts, and ruin the self-discovery and problem-solving aspect of
climbing.
