Erik Murdock

Policy Director


Erik manages the policy program and supports local and national policy initiatives. He represents the Access Fund on Capitol Hill and interfaces with national-level public land administrators in Washington DC. Erik works on the front lines monitoring activities across the country to identify threats and opportunities to climbing access and conservation. He also founded the Outdoor Alliance GIS Lab and utilizes GIS technologies to monitor mining and mineral leasing on America's public lands. A well-traveled climber for over three decades, Erik has a MS in Geology and a PhD in Natural Resource Studies with a minor in Environmental Psychology. His career has focused on public lands, natural resource management, recreation policy, social justice and geographic information science.
