Chris Winter

Executive Director


Chris partners with the Board of Directors to provide leadership and manage the operations of Access Fund. He has more than twenty years of experience as an environmental attorney working to protect public lands for outdoor recreation and conservation. He has also traveled the world in pursuit of his passion for climbing and spending time in the mountains. He believes that our experiences outside have the power to ignite in all of us a fire to stand up and protect those places for current and future generations.

Zachary Lesch-Huie

National Affiliate Director & Southeast Regional Director


Zachary leads Access Fund programs in the Southeast and directs our Local Support & Mobilization program focused on supporting more than 120 affiliate local climbing organizations nationally. He is the primary contact for Southeastern access issues, and questions about starting and operating a local climbing group.

Jessica Dauchy

Operations Director


Jessica is in charge of the health of the Access Fund as a nonprofit organization. She oversees the business and finance operations, as well as human resource management.

Gareth Martins

Marketing & Communications Director


Gareth leads communications and marketing efforts to engage the American rock climbing community in all aspects of Access Fund's efforts. As a long time outdoor industry leader and enthusiast, he brings a strong conservation and advocacy ethic, combined with a strategic, hands on and collaborative approach to his work and the mission of Access Fund.

Erik Murdock

Policy Director


Erik manages the policy program and supports local and national policy initiatives. He represents the Access Fund on Capitol Hill and interfaces with national-level public land administrators in Washington DC. Erik works on the front lines monitoring activities across the country to identify threats and opportunities to climbing access and conservation. He also founded the Outdoor Alliance GIS Lab and utilizes GIS technologies to monitor mining and mineral leasing on America's public lands. A well-traveled climber for over three decades, Erik has a MS in Geology and a PhD in Natural Resource Studies with a minor in Environmental Psychology. His career has focused on public lands, natural resource management, recreation policy, social justice and geographic information science.

Joe Sambataro

National Access Dir & Northwest Regional Dir


Joe heads up the national land acquisition and protection program from Seattle and also serves as Northwest Regional Director. He is the primary contact for access concerns on private lands, the Access Fund Land Conservation Campaign revolving loan program, grants program, and regional support.

Ty Tyler

Stewardship Director


Ty manages Access Fund stewardship events. He oversees the Access Fund-Jeep Conservation Team and the Adopt a Crag program. Ty is the primary contact for stewardship event organizers and Conservation Team hosts.

Scott Dissel

Development Director


Scott leads our fundraising efforts, building relationships with friends and supporters of Access Fund's mission. A life-long conservationist, Scott's passion is connecting people with nature and watching them thrive.

Holly Smolenski

Senior Content Strategist


Holly is chief storyteller for Access Fund and works to develop innovative content strategies that engage and inspire the climbing community to protect America's climbing areas.

Jordan Fisher

Membership Director


Jordan oversees Access Fund's membership program. Her focus is on generating and maintaining relationships between the Access Fund and millions of outdoor climbers.

Mike Morin

Northeast Regional Director


Mike works with local climbing organizations, advocates, and land managers to protect and expand climbing opportunities in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Maryland, and Delaware. He also provides logistical support and training for the Conservation Team and oversees the Access Fund’s Fixed Anchor Fund.

Michael Fitzgerald

Jenna Winkler

Programs Manager


Jenna provides support to increase the impact of Access Fund's programs through assisting the Conservation Teams, maintaining partnerships with local climbing organizations, on boarding joint membership LCOs, and overseeing the grant program.

Shaun Hannan

Data Systems and Tech Analyst


Shaun helps create and manage a sustainable technology infrastructure that supports Access Fund's day-to-day operations and organizational growth.

Danielle Rocks

Finance Manager


Danielle helps maintain the financial health of the organization. She develops strategies and tactics to achieve long-term financial goals, provides data analysis, produces financial reports, and advises senior directors on concepts to capitalize on fiscal opportunities.

Katie Goodwin

Policy Analyst & California Regional Director


Katie is part of the Access Fund’s national policy and advocacy program and serves as California Regional Director. Katie works with public land managers to address access issues and develop and implement management plans as it relates to climbing. She also supports the stewardship program and local climbing communities by providing assessment tools to protect and conserve the climbing environment.

Heather Distad

Events & Outreach Manager


Heather oversees Access Fund's major events and community outreach, developing and driving regional and national strategies to increase fundraising and Access Fund's footprint. She is also responsible for cultivating and managing a robust Community Ambassador program. Kristina Cowell

Member & Office Coordinator


A rarely spotted Colorado Native, Kristina spends her free time exploring hiking and climbing throughout the southwest part of the country. At Access Fund, she runs the day-to-day administrative operations and provides excellent service for membership and donor support, as well as our online store. Taimur Ahmad

California Policy Assistant and Diversity Fellow


Taimur Ahmad is the Access Fund’s diversity, equity, and inclusion fellow, and also works on eastern Sierra and southern California policy issues. Taimur is from New York City and got his start in climbing bouldering on Rat Rock in New York’s Central Park.

Jason manages the Access Fund’s government affairs caseload related to recreational access and conservation advocacy work on public lands, including legislative and regulatory analysis, federal land agency management, and wildlife and cultural protection legislation.

Brian works with local climbing organizations, advocates, and land managers to protect and expand climbing opportunities in Texas.

Curt Shannon

Policy Analyst


Curt works closely with the Access Fund Policy Director on various issues posing threats to climbing access across the country. He continues to represent climbers and the Access Fund in their ongoing effort to save the Oak Flat climbing and bouldering area in Arizona from destructive mining practices.

Chris Archer

General Counsel

Chris and his firm, Archer Law Offices, P.C., provide general legal services to Access Fund. Chris served on the Board of Access Fund from 1994 to 2002, has been General Counsel of Access Fund since 2002, and donates over $20,000.00 per year of free legal services for the benefit of Access Fund, national and local climbing related causes, and other outdoor nonprofits.
